WLUP, the home (and former home) of greats like Steve and Garry, Skafish, Stroud, Patti Haze, etc. has been sold to a Christian broadcasting group. Another preset that is open for XM. Chicago radio is becoming a wasteland.

Starting to wonder if terrestrial radio is going to just go to the wayside and go away for good.  I'm thinking we might end up with a couple of plain news stations and a few generic music stations and not much else.  Honestly, Pam or I don't put regular radio on in any of our vehicles unless it's to hear a ballgame.

I have the Loop as a preset, probably for historical reasons, as I can't remember the last time I listened to it. If I tune into a terrestrial station, it's either WBBM for a traffic or weather report, a game, or I'm flipping around trying to find something to listen to (I'll usually pause at the Drive's HD station). Other than that, it's XM.

Same here.  We're always on Sirius XM or listening to a CD or something.

My son Alex is all about classic rock.  He listens to The Loop and 97.1 (not even sure what station that is).  He's bummed.  But who knows, maybe the new Christian station will play Highway to Hell.

They call 97.1 The River.  Pretty predictable classic rock.

I thought 97.1 was the Drive.

That's right.  I think either used to be called the River, or the River is some other station.  My bad.

The River is 95.9 out of Aurora.
