From the word go, Trump has done just about everything wrong as it relates to the pandemic, from pretending we weren't at risk, to telling the states that they're responsible for getting their own PPE, then sending FEMA to apprehend the supplies they order from other countries. And rather than trying to turn it around by demonstrating actual leadership and competence, he falls back to what he knows, which is to gin up the anger and send his armed minions to state capitols in protest of the actions that have been taken to try to limit the virus from spreading, and the loss of life. You'd think that the most mind boggling things coming from him was to suggest that injecting disinfectant could cure the virus, but no, today's move, IMO, tops even that. The executive order to keep the meat processing plants open, even though the disease has run rampant through the workers...WHY?! He had no problem with family farms going under while he played "let's make a deal" with China, who then found other countries from whom to buy their crops, but he's forcing diseased meat processing plants to stay open? I. CAN'T. EVEN.
And as a side note that isn't about Trump, but about the Republican who filed a lawsuit in Illinois saying that Pritzker had no right to extend the lockdown beyond 30 days, and the judge granted a stay. The stay applies ONLY to the guy who filed the suit, however, if he should be successful, there are more to follow. I have no problem with them infecting each other, but they have no right to wander around in public infecting others. But that aside, Pritzker's emergency powers have been granted by statute, not the Illinois Constitution, and with huge democratic majorities in the Illinois legislature, can't they just change the statute?
And as a third side note, Pence walking around Mayo Clinic without a mask because Trump told him to is just pathetic. I guess it makes it easier for him to kiss Trump's ass.
