On The Rise Empty On The Rise

Post by SoxIlliniRob Fri Feb 07, 2020 10:21 am

Guys, I honestly think we're going to see Bloomberg rise to the top.  Granted, he's doing it with his billions, but I'm fine with it.  Nobody can call him a socialist.  He has a shit ton of money to campaign against criminal president.  He's a total moderate.

My feeling is that the Dem establishment is going to start freaking out if Bernie keeps doing well and Biden keeps sinking.  The response to this freakout is going to be to try coalescing around Bloomberg.  Biden just seems like he's running out of steam.  It's like his batteries are on low or something.  I don't picture him doing well in a Trump debate, but I picture Bloomberg relishing the opportunity to shovel shit in Trump's face.  Bloomberg is a tough guy.  About all they can throw at him is his gun regs stance, and his limiting the size of big Gulps in NY city.  He's also anti legalized marijuana.  I know Bloomberg was a big advocate for stop and frisk, but the right LOVES that shit, so they can't particularly use that against him.  Lastly, I recently saw some polling that showed Bloomberg faring the best vs. Trump out of all of the Dem candidates, including Biden.  That's a good sign.  For now, I'm all in for this guy, not cuz he's my favorite, but because I think he has the best chance of success vs. this titanic asshole.

Can't disagree with anything you've said.  I'm not particularly thrilled with any of our options.  I'm relatively flexible in terms of policy.  I wish Obama had been more progressive, but I can live with just about all of his policies.  The ones I'm less than thrilled with were probably more about his willingness to compromise than his actual political positions.  In terms of just likeability, I find Yang the most likeable of the remaining candidates, and probably Mayor Pete.  Bloomberg's upside is that he gets under Trump's skin more than Obama.  What we're seeing out of Trump is beyond anything that I could have imagined for our country.  Barr has advised the DOJ that nobody is to investigate any 2020 candidate without his approval.  In other words, Trump can continue commiting the crimes that he's been commiting his entire miserable life.  And the Treasury turns over whatever the Republican senators ask about a private citizen, yet they don't provide the records that they are supposed to produce BY LAW to the House.  Joe Walsh's comments about the cult are the absolute truth, and I don't know if we'll ever recover from it.

It's worse than I expected, but it's not worse by much.  The constitution is only of any value if those in charge are choosing to abide by it.  What we're seeing is it's a document full of holes.  Basically, it's Swiss Cheese, because they are rearranging it to their liking and nobody appears willing or able to stop them.  And this is why I get a little ticked off when people get all puffy chested about rule of law and our great constitution, because it appears to me that shit is just talk and means very little.  If the Supreme Court is going to allow this shit to happen, or if there's no precedent to guide us, then it's a constitution with too many holes or too little teeth.
