Guy hasn't had one at bat in the major leagues and the Sox give him $43 million??
What did each of us do in a prior life to be saddled with this team as our favorite?

Hahn did say he was going to find a way to spend the money he had earmarked for a free agent this year.

What's the rush? He becomes ROY then tie him up. Or after two years. Why take away any and all incentive?

Tongue was firmly planted in cheek. I agree with you. This was a move to soothe his ego by letting him "start the clock" early and keep him around beyond his initial free agent start.

Not my money and I have no financial interest in the team. BUT it sounds like a good deal to me for the Sox. Get control before he's more expensive.
