There are plenty of guys cut from the same cloth as Bob Dole, but our societal environment has made them unimportant. Guys like this exist, but nobody seems to give a shit anymore.

Didn't always agree with his politics, but never questioned his integrity and that he was trying to do what he thought was the best for the nation.

Yep. A good guy in the other party. I used to not mind the guys in the other party. Guys like Dole and McCain and Bush were necessary to have counterbalance to the views of the left. I miss the days of politicians butting heads until they could find a place in the middle that made everyone equally unhappy....also known as a compromise. It feels like not only are those days gone, but that they are never going to return.
