I think Reinsdorf was awakened by two events.
1. The Cubs success.
2. The birdbrained Kenny Williams acquisition of James Shields and his contract in the final death gurgle of WIN NOW-RELOAD that has driven fans away from the ballpark and TV sets.
I absolutely love this GOING YOUNG. Build a foundation. Stop bringing in WASHED UP BUMS so DUMB ASSES like Murph can PRETEND THEY CONTEND.
NO MORE GUYS OVER 30 NAMED ADAM.

Nerdboy Lindberg posted on Facebook last Winter that the REBUILD would lead to the Sox LEAVING TOWN!!!
Build a damned consistent winner and people will buy tickets. This is not rocket science, and if i want to high finance lecture, I will not look for it from Professor Lindberg at Paterno's. 1975 is over.

I've read several things that claim that Abreu was instrumental in getting Robert to sign with the White Sox. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not, but for the first time in years, the future looks bright.
