I'm listening to his podcast (something I normally don't do, listen to podcasts), but I like this guy. The former head of the RNC just called CPAC a "shitshow". He called them out on "worshipping the God that a few years ago, they wouldn't even let speak" (Trump).

Aloha, the reality of this country is that there are a ton of people calling for the formation of a 3rd party, but there are 3 parties. There is the GOP that follows trump, the GOP that represents the republicans of Reagan, Ford, Bush the 1st and Goldwater, and there are the democrats - who maybe slowly breaking into 2 parties themselves

I look at the vast majority of Republican politicians in the same vein as I look at the guards of the wicked witch in Wizard of Oz.  Sure they worked for the witch but as soon as she was dead they celebrated.  Likewise, Republicans are toeing the line.  They're going to distance themselves as quickly as they can once Trump's time has passed.

Sounds like you're describing Germany after Hitler was removed.  They all sort of just woke up from a stupor and disowned the guy.

I must be hanging with the wrong Trump fans because the ones I know tell me that history will view him as one of our historically greatest presidents.  What can I even say to that?  It shuts me up because you're wasting your breath to try arguing with that person.  But I know what you're saying.  After he's either kicked out of office or resigns or loses, or whatnot, and after many more crimes that he committed are brought to the surface and publicized, 98% of those that supported him will claim they never liked him, thought he was a crook, only supported him because of his conservative (LOL) policies.

He has been an outspoken critic of Trump from the moment he won the election.  He's horrified by everything but the little bit of Trump's policies that can be called conservative.  He's on MSNBC as almost a full timer most days.  It's surprising he doesn't have his own show on that channel.

He's a frequent guest on Roe Conn on WGN and also Bill Maher (was just on last week).

The CPAC guy was on Bill Maher Friday, and he said that all they look at is whether or not he did what he said it was going to do, and for the most part he has. If history doesn't look at histrionics, he may have a shot at being better regarded once he's left office and is rotting in prison, but his antics, IMO, takes you out of the "greatest presidents" votes.  He'd have to do something over-the-top historic for him to even be in that convseration.

I guess what I don't understand about this best presidents talk is that he's done what any conservative president would have done with this congress.  He signed a tax cut bill.  Big fucking wowee!  Any Repub president would have done the same.  He was too dumb to even understand what they were doing, except that it would make a shit ton of money for his rich friends.  His policies on immigration will never be viewed as great, nor will his handling of the Muslim ban.  History won't look positively at him for chumming with dictators unless he achieves some kind of momentous peace accord.  History will frown on his removal from the Paris climate deal, and for his removal from the Iran Nuke deal.  I don't really see how history will ever consider him anything more than a fuck up, and that doesn't even take into account the porn stars and the complete idiocy, lies and stupidity that flows from his mouth daily.

I follow Kasich on twitter and he's encouraging Republican senators to put country over party and vote to tell Trump to take his emergency declaration and stick it.

I think support for Trump would go away if there were a series of gas explosions at the various Fox studios across the country.

History will view him as right around James Buchanan. This is the most divisive President in our history, and he is purposely so. Others have been divisive because of things they have done that others disagreed with (Bush and the Iraq War, Obama and Obamacare, Lincoln and the slavery issue), but Trump came into office with the intent of only trying to appease the 30% of the population that totally agrees with him. He has made no effort to reach out to those who disagree with him. Lincoln did, Obama did, Bush did.
