WTF?? Just a bizarre story. Triumphant show in Detroit just a couple of hours earlier and then suicide by hanging. It's being reported an accidental overdose of anti-anxiety medication but who knows? I've read where Chris had been clean and sober for years but again...who knows? Toxicology report will be interesting.

Whatever the case, what a great voice. I saw him with Soundgarden back in the 90's but actually liked his work with Audioslave better. Such a sad waste.

Truly a shame.  Maybe two or three days earlier I'd been telling my wife, while listening to Cornell playing a cover of Nothing Compares to U, that he has possibly one of the greatest rock singing voices of all time.  He had an 11 and a 12 yr old, too.

Guess the thought of him having to come to Columbus to head the "rock of the range" fest was just too much for him ..all these great artists live on the edge between genius and whacko - y so many of them die so young.

So the toxicology reports came out which showed a bunch of different drugs in his system, but nothing that would have killed him, and coroner still saying cause of death is suicide by hanging.  Dumb question...if those who found him believed he was dead due to hanging, why would they administer Narcan?

Not sure what it's like in Chicago, but here in Ohio, b/c of the rampant heroin addiction and prescription opiod dependency, anyone who is found down, dead, unconscious etc is automatically given Narcan - first thing ...maybe that's what its like in Michigan as well, don't know.

Interesting.  Would think that if you're found unconscious definitely, but if your unconscious and you've hung yourself and been found that way, wouldn't think they would administer narcan.  Last year one of my kids' classmates committed suicide by hanging...broken neck.  Wouldn't have thought they'd give him narcan as a matter of protocol.
