Well, it appears that the former White Sox pitcher that's hot garbage is Sale. That's some big time sucking...losing twice in four games. I would say Quintana was "lights out", but you can't even say that when you're pitching against Scherzer, who was flat out nasty lights out. Makes the choke job on Saturday even harder to swallow, but we've still got a shot at wrapping things up in Chicago. I certainly don't want to face Strasburg again. Our victories against Strasburg and Scherzer were flat out luck...a timely hit here and there. Not sure we can expect that a second time with Strasburg.
Each Cubs' starter has let up 2 hits. Pretty darned good.
Aloha, I don't feel like doing the research, but aren't Kershaw's October issues due to short rest? I remember distinctly in game 6 last year that A-Rod said that when Kershaw pitches on short rest and his pitches are up there on the gun, then he's going to have a bad game, but if he's coming in around 90 to 92, he can dominate. Sure enough that's exactly what happened. From the get go they were announcing the reading on the gun and saying that was a bad sign, and he flat out imploded. Plus, Hendricks was dominating, so Kershaw had no room for error.
Have no idea what Jake's got. If his nagging hammy is anything like Scherzer's nagging hammy, I'll take it.
And p.s., NOBODY is hitting, so put our best defensive team on the field. We were lucky to get outta there with a win with those errors and base running snafus.
Rob, you said if the Cubs were going to go anywhere this post season, it wouldn't be with starting pitching, and all our starters have done is let up 2 hits each.
Unless Yankees implode again, looks like that series is going 5.
Playoffs are crazy....
